Designed with Taste: Baileson Brewing
Tuesday, April 30, 5pm

How does design affect your dining experience? Designed with Taste, an event series from Architecture Center Houston explores Houston’s newest restaurants to examine this question. Hear about the design inspiration for the spaces, and how it interacts with the culinary offerings. Is the food influenced by the design or is it the other way around? Enjoy lite bites and a couple of beers and decide for yourself.

Located in Rice Village, Baileson Brewing is housed in a retrofitted 1950’s auto service center. The small pup-friendly brew house expands when the large garage doors roll up to include an outdoor patio. Method Architecture was tapped to bring new life to the space while keeping the unique interior of the building close to its original state. Various colors of paint on the vintage clay masonry wall, the wood-framed roof and pock-marked concrete slab were left intact as a nod to the building’s seventy-year history.

Established by husband-and-wife team, Adam Cryer (also founder of Pinnacle Structural Engineering) and Sarah Pope, Baileson takes its name from the combination of their dogs’ names, Bailey and Jameson. The couple started brewing in their garage in 2015 and two years later decided to take the leap to open Baileson. The brewpub offers on average six to eight beers on tap.

Haute Chef Kingsley, a regular pop-up food vendor who is normally onsite on Sundays, will offer a sampling of fare to complement the beer selection.
