ABOUT THE HOME
This 1,800 square foot house implements dual-purpose programming to create flexible living and use. The carport opens up to the pool creating shaded seating and covered outdoor cooking. Placement of the owner's suite on the second level over the pool and towards the rear of the property increases privacy and creates an overall design that respects the neighborhood street-front which is dominated by single-story bungalows. Inspirations from the original details of the nearby historic homes are the thin lap-board siding and 3-track driveway. The social living areas of the house are designed into a single space and extend out north towards the pool and deck through a series of sliding glass doors and clerestory windows which maximizes daylight while minimizing solar heat gain. Custom cabinetry, timber and steel trusses, staircase, and pool differentiate this house from standardized residential construction and materials.
